Evidence! We all took evidence in law school and for good reason. As attorneys, we rely on it to help prove our cases and drive home our positions. But don’t forget about evidence when it comes to your law firm websites. Properly presented evidence can persuade readers to actually reach out and contact you. An extra benefit here is that you don’t even need to lay a foundation!

What Evidence Helps?

In general, you can use any evidence that helps showcase your firm’s performance. People reading your site are probably doing so because they need legal help in your area of practice. Don’t just inform them but persuade them, and the best way to do so is with concrete evidence that shows your firm is the best possible option for them.

While any real evidence will help, the three most common pieces of evidence to rely on are:

  • Statistics
  • Case Results
  • Testimonials

Why Statistics?

Statistics are a great way to quickly communicate to readers that:

  1. You have credibility, and
  2. They should continue reading your site.

Consider, for example, a website for a personal injury firm. The site’s homepage has an image of an attorney with a few pieces of content that says the firm can help injury victims. That’s great, but does it really stand out from other websites belonging to other personal injury law firms? Not really.

Now envision a site where under the main homepage image, there are four well centered boxes. Each box informs on the following:

  • Number of clients helped (for example, 3,000+)
  • Success rate (for example, 95%)
  • Years practicing (for example, 20+)
  • Availability (for example, 24/7)

All of these are key pieces of evidence that will make a reader continue to search your site. They quickly boost your credibility and help demonstrate your success and availability.

What About Case Results and Testimonials?

Case results and testimonials provide concrete evidence on your past performance as an attorney and/or law firm. It tells potential clients:

  • How you can make a difference,
  • How you can impact their particular case, and
  • How others value your services.

The two should work in concert with one another. Case results help speak of your challenges and results while testimonials talk about the value of those results. Hard evidence of this nature will encourage readers to dig deeper on your site and hopefully make it to the “Contact Us” page.
