Yes, your law firm needs a website. Check. But now comes the time when you have to fill it with content. No law firm should be satisfied with just any legal content. Rather, you want content that helps your website work for you as a marketing tool. One way to accomplish this goal is to ensure your content ranks well with Google. Defacto Digital LLC has 4 sure fire tips to help you make this happen.
1.Find One or Two Keywords Per Page
Search engines like keywords. This is because the words tell the engines what your page is about. So, be part of the process rather than fight it.
Find one or two keywords or search terms that you can sprinkle throughout a page.
For example, if you run a bankruptcy firm in Chicago, try and sneak in “bankruptcy” and “Chicago” within your homepage. You can combine the two words into one phrase or use them separately.
A warning though is not to overuse the words. Granted, Google used to love “keyword stuffing.” But it is a thing of the past and will actually hurt you rather than help you.
2.Have a Separate Page for Each Practice Area
Let’s assume you practice across multiple areas, like personal injury, workers comp, and civil litigation.
Don’t advertise or describe them all on one page. Make sure to create a separate page for each area.
The main reason is that you can then use a key word that is specific to that page.
In our hypothetical firm above, you could use the term “personal injury” on one page, “workers compensation” on another, and “civil litigation” on a third page.
You couldn’t have provided this kind of focus if you listed all services on one single page.
3.Use LSI Terms in Your Legal Content
“LSI” is a term for “Latent Semantic Indexing.” To make a long story short, the goal here is to include within your content phrases that are related to a keyword in your content.
You can use Google Suggest to help find valuable LSI terms. One you find one or two, include those words on a page.
Again, however don’t overuse them. If you want to add more, blog.
A blog post is an effective way to add more keywords and LSI terms to a site. If you’re a personal injury firm helping dog bite victims, you can rattle off at least 5-10 blog posts on different issues associated with dog bites.
In each post you can use the same or similar keywords and LSI terms. The result? A power boost in rankings.
4.Don’t Ignore Structure
Search engines don’t like it when you clump a bunch of content together into heavy paragraphs and lengthy sentences. Potential clients also get turned off because they can’t easily skim the legal content on your site.
Structure your content accordingly. Make your content simple and easy to read.
Utilize headers that are easy to skim and understand.
Try to incorporate as much white space as you can without a page coming across as weak or unfinished.
When possible, try to use images to explain your points and break up your legal content. (Um, if you haven’t noticed by now, “legal content” was a keyword within what you read…Good luck!).
